Dedicate your photographic practice to building a cohesive body of work while staying and studying in the beautiful and changeable region of South West France. This area has drawn artists and writers for generations with its unspoiled landscapes and extraordinary light - Sagan, Breton, Doisneau, Colette, Zadkine...
Led by landscape photographer Rhiain Lefton, enjoy uninterrupted time and focus in a peaceful rural French photography and full board residency opportunity. In this weeklong course, you will engage with nature on a deeper immersive level developing your unique sensitivity to the landscape and you will attune your photographic creative workflow.
Your week in photographic practice
➤ have direct access to local landscapes, ancient mixed woodland, panoramic views, vineyards, medieval villages, and outings to varied landscape opportunities,
➤ experience local biodiversity and history,
➤ enjoy a large comfortable common room for pre and post production working and engaged group discussions,
➤ learn to prepare a photographic project, including understanding area and season,
➤ consider composition and aesthetics, studying various artists’ approaches to landscape art and photography,
➤ evaluate your work in progress while building a critical gaze through editing considerations, both the image and your work as a whole,
➤ examine ways to organise and then share your photographs, including fine art digital printing and exploring the challenges of moving from screen to paper,
➤ benefit from a focused personal session with Rhiain. 
Professional prints
Three of your photographs will be printed with a professional-class printer using conservation-grade paper and inks. The week will conclude with an exhibition of participants' work (optional).
Guest speakers and visits
Group sessions will be supplemented with guest speakers who will lead ‘aperitif discussions’ on topics including local history, photographic editing, and technical considerations. You will also have the opportunity to visit photography exhibitions, including La Galerie Doisneau.
Dates and Cost
€599 pp (plus charges if applicable) which includes all tuition and three fine art digitally printed photographs with conservation grade inks (inks included in price; paper and optional mounts at charge of participant).
A non-refundable deposit of 25% is required to confirm your place on the course.
